My favorite bookshop

Here's where I spend a lot of my money buying books. I love reading. Last month I made the terrible mistake of buying A million little pieces, by James Frey. Dude, don't ever spend a second reading it. Trust me. I wouldn't believe when they told me it was bad. It's worse than bad. Also, I thought I'd give JF a chance. What if the story was really good, or that he was really a talented author? Woops, my mistake. This guy won't deserve my giving a second chance. I also bought Diary - a novel, by Chuck Palahniuk - but I haven't started that one yet, and A short history of nearly everything, by Bill Brison - I love it so far.

GDP of São Paulo is US$76 billions.

I love reading too, and I spend a lot of money at bookshop every month :-)

I bought James Frey's book but it really bad, so I decided to leave it in my favourite coffee shop, because maybe someone will enjoy it more than me (I am also a bookcrosser:-) )

Have you read other books of Bill Bryson? My favourite is the one about Australia (I thinks in english is called "in a sunburned country " or something about that:-)

Ciao

Liz, I haven't read any other books Bill Bryson wrote. This is the first one I got and I love it. I don't want it to finish ever. I reread chapter so the reading will last longer.

As for A million little pieces, I thought no one would deserve to read it - it's some kind of punishment, I think. :)

I'm surprised by Oprahs 180 degree turn around in support of him after it came out he made up some/all(?) of the good spicey things in the book. First supporting him on Larry King than sizzling him on a bar-b-q grill on her show - I think if she is going to put someone on the bookclub - essentially making them millionnaires you choose an author that has integrity or at least, don't give it to someone that uses someone elses death, make up how the person died, than try to use it for your book - sad... but I like your photo, it reminds me of that TIm Hanks movie with meg ryan -- forgot the name of the movie :(

James Frey Whoa! I hear he is pretty bad. I am currently reading The Secret Supper by Javier Serra and started on The Gospel of Judas. I think I am preparing myself for the Da Vinci Code movie. Anyway, nice shot and great looking bookstore.

The thing about James Frey, Nicholas, is that he lied. If he had chosen to say it was all fiction, the literary quality of his work wouldn't be enough to make him sell as he did. The story he tells in his book is much like the kind of stories Oprah likes - even better if it's a real life story. Were it true - despite the bad quality of his writing - at least we could say it would inspire people somehow. I don't know.
